With the move into the new Office of Equity and Inclusion, Title IX processes are being updated to ensure that students are more connected to the process and cases are handled more efficiently. UMBC has also updated their Sexual Misconduct policy in response to recent changes from the University System of Maryland (USM).

  • UMBC’s Title IX policy will have to be updated again in the near future once the revised guidelines are released by the Department of Education
Create case manager position within Title IX

  • As part of the new Office of Equity and Inclusion (see Campus Structure), UMBC has plans to hire a Case Manager. This person will serve both reporting and responding parties and will ensure steady communication throughout the Title IX process
Update reporting process

  • The Title IX office is developing an online report form with a third party contractor
Title IX Coordinator should more effectively track data and communicate said data to campus annually

  • The online reporting form (see above) will improve the Title IX office’s ability to track reports from the campus community. This new data will allow the Title IX Coordinator to analyze for patterns, training opportunities, and process improvement
